May Vacay 2009

Magic Kingdom
Walt Disney World Resort

We've been looking for an excuse to visit Uncle Walt and the gang for a few weeks now. Fortunately, SeaWorld came through with Manta. We decided to make a weekend of it.

It's road trip time!

This is Steve's driving face.

We began our Orlando adventure at the Magic Kingdom. You can't beat a Disney park's opening show.

Time to shuffle in. The crowd wasn't so bad for such a pretty day.

Obligatory gorgeous castle shot.

Looks like they're doing some sort of refurb on the outside of It's a Small World. It was down for an overhaul not too long ago, so I wonder what they're doing.

Munkees!!

Each piece on a chess board is represented on the architecture of the Haunted Mansion, except for the knight. Why isn't the knight represented? Because it's always night in the Haunted Mansion.

Nice nod to Mr. Toad in the pet cemetery.

Did you know the Liberty Bell you see in Liberty Square was cast from a mold made from the original?

Lunch time!  Fried chickens and fishes for Steve. Hummus sandwich for Karen.

After lunch, Steve saw some folks he recognized in the crowd.

He totally forgot his family reunion was going on while we were in town!

Splashy Mountain

Next up, some Big Thunder Mountain action.

Good afternoon, Mr. Goat.

Lucky geyser shot.

You can get some beautiful shots of the ride from Tom Sawyer Island.

The bee animatronics in the cactus blossoms were amazing!

Dole Whips have become a Steve tradition. They're delish, but I can't eat a whole one myself.

I opt for some in-your-face citrus twist deliciousness.

Space Mountain was down during this visit. It lead to a semi-heated conversation between Steve and I about when "Winter 2009" was. I say "Winter" would be November/December, while Steve argued it was more like January. This all led to me arguing that it was actually his face.

Oh, and the TTA is closed too.  That makes Karen a sad panda.

Another obligatory beautiful castle shot.

Next up, Disney's Hollywood Studios
