Dollywood for Christmas with the GAP!
Christmas is here! Well, Christmas
is less than a month away, at least.
The first weekend of December is always booked for the Annual
GAP
Dollywood Event.
With 18 booked guests (and a few folks who couldn't make it -
we missed you guys!), you gotta
go with a decent sized place. This year we opted for the Majestic, a four
story behemoth.
Here's the view from the back balcony. Not too shabby.
Saturday morning, and Karen's all geared up for Dollywood. The temperature is currently 26 degrees.
We snagged a pretty good spot in the closest normal person
lot, so it was only
like a 20 minute hike through the gargantuan handicapped lot.
I could never imagine bringing Roman on a trip like this, but if
I did I'd love sticking him in Doggywood for the day.
The temperature is now 27 degrees.
Christmas stuff is everywhere you look! But we ain't
looking there yet.
The temperature is now 28 degrees.
Dollywood is home to Thunderhead, one of the best wooden
coasters around.
The park was pretty quiet, so we figured we could get plenty of laps.
SO much fun. Holy cow, the park is so dead there's not
anybody there to ride it yet!
The temperature is now 29 degrees.
NO WAIT TIME for Thunderhead! That's freaking awesome!
The temperature is now 31 degrees. Why do I keep mentioning that?
Oh yeah. Dollywood won't operate their coasters until
the temperature
is at or over 36 degrees. The temperature is now 31 degrees.
Well, at least Lumberjack Lifts is open! Josh and James look thrilled about riding it!
Oh, no wonder. Lumberjack Lifts isn't a ride - it's a glorified piece of exercise equipment.
While the boys worked out, Karen took this picture of
Thunderhead using color filters.
Ain't she all arty?
Moving along, the group approaches Mystery Mine.
They won't operate this one until the temperature hits 40
degrees.
It is currently 31 degrees.
Everyone's sick of the "parks closed, folks. Moose
outside should
have told you" joke, so instead we're trying something different.
Vulture: "Yeah, nothing's open here, but ya'll HRP fans should
be used to that!"
That vulture was totally a dick.
