Mansfield

Tours are a paltry $8.  They're supposed to last about an hour, but our guide
was feeling chatty.  The tour ended up running close to two hours.

The only downside to the longer tour is the fact that it was pretty humid,
and most of the prison hasn't got much in the way of electricity.

Everywhere you look, there's bars bars bars.

The main cellblock is six stories high.  It's actually the largest freestanding cell
block known to exist in the world.

Note that I said "known to exist."  The reason for that is because, bluntly, we
don't know what's out there in other countries.  For all we know, the godless
commies had one that was sevenix stories high somewhere in

Okay, this place has been closed for 17 years, but do you think that toilet
was EVER appealing?

To call this place creepy isn't doing it justice.

No, I'm not nearly as cool looking as I was going for.  I just wanted to include this
shot because I don't think my awesome Ma Fratelli shirt was clear in the video

Do they make you take showers in prison?
Cuz I'm thinking I'd prefer to just smell.

This is what the outside of a solitary confinement cell looks like.
Do not want.

It's unclear if this was actually once a library or if it was recreated for
Shawshank.  I'm leaning towards the former.

Mansfield Reformatory has been used for plenty of film shoots. Shawshank Redemption, Air Force One, and of course most notably the Lil Wayne video for "Go DJ."

Below you'll see a fine selection of eating utensils...

Now, this is something the other tour guides won't tell you.  In this particular cellblock, Machine Gun Kelly had what we call in the prison system "a bitch."  And one night, in a jealous rage, Kelly took a
make-shift knife or "shiv" and cut out the bitch's eyes.  And as if this wasn't enough retribution for
Kelly, the next day he and four other inmates took turns pissing into the bitch's ocular cavities...

No one told me it was Yearbook photo day!
