TPS Report

Mike's Place, Mansfield, and Sandusky

After a nice day at the late Geauga Lake, you develop a bit of an appetite.
We had already done some research, so we knew where we were headed next...

Clearly Mike is a bit of a geek.  How many other places have homemade
X-Wing fighters parked out front?

Lots of visually intriguing stuff around.

While it may not be quite as classy as the school bus at Hillbilly Hot Dogs,
the dining bus at Mike's Place is pretty nice.

I mean, there's no window unit in here!

A geek reference *and* a Disney reference? Lovin' it!

So yeah, here's the Dirk Diggler.
It's a monster sandwich.  Pretty good stuff, too.

So that was Mike's Place.  Check it out if you're in the area.

Afterwards, we swung by Stricklands for some frozen custard.
I almost feel like we could do an entire video segment about how damn
good the frozen custard up north is.  We don't have it in the South.

Next day and we're in Mansfield, Ohio.  This was once
a bustling little town, but the steel recessions of the 1970s
took a heavy toll.

The carousel is really nice.  The building is just sitting smack-dab
in the middle of the downtown area.

Closeup of the hand carved mounts.

But this wasn't even what brought us to Mansfield.  We're here to go to prison.

I considered writing some educational stuff about the prison here,
but you can read the plaque on your own.

So here's some more pictures of the outside.

The tours are run by the Mansfield Reformatory Preservation Society.
